The Art Of A Logo
Logos do many things. They can make your business instantly recognizable. Think of the Pepsi logo. You would recognize it even if the name of the company wasn’t included. Or when the name of the company is the actual logo, like Coca-Cola. Logos can sum up your whole business brand in a single image. Take Burger King for instance. You’ve got the name of the business between two buns. It tells you what your need to know about that business at a glance. They serve the king of hamburgers. (If Burger King is your jam.)
So, why hire a professional to design your logo when there are so many DIY predesigned logo formats that you can just plug your business name into?
Here are the downsides to a predesigned logo.
You can’t trademark a premade logo design. So it’s up for grabs for anyone.
You will not have a unique logo. Another business up the street could use the same pre-made format and suddenly confusion begins amongst your target customer, “Are these businesses owned by the same person? Are they the same business?”
The files that are sold to you by most premade logo websites will not include any vector files that are crucial to be able to resize and manipulate your logo to add it to any kind of media, printed or otherwise, that you will ever need to. Vector graphics allow you to adapt your logo to any size without losing the crispness of the image from a business card all the way up to a billboard!
Do the DYI sites give you three or more different on brand logo options to use for all of your media needs? Nope!
Most importantly, is it really the right logo for your business? A premade logo template won’t be able to tell you that.
